My experience as a relationship counsellor, family therapist/mediator, and social worker enables me to support individuals and couples in working through their personal and relationship problems.
**Individuals**
I assist individuals struggling in their relationships, going through difficult times, or facing periods of change through individual counselling. My approach is client-centered, providing a warm and safe environment where I offer unconditional positive regard. This allows clients to focus on the here and now, while I maintain genuine and empathic understanding without passing judgment. Together, we work collaboratively to identify patterns of behavior and develop an understanding of what keeps them stuck, including their contributions to this feeling of being trapped.
**Couples**
For couples experiencing relationship difficulties, including issues related to communication, trust, inequality, conflict resolution, and maintaining healthy relationships, I offer specialized couples therapy. My approach utilizes Systemic Therapy, which examines the couple as a system and how they interact with each other. We explore their patterns of interaction, such as pursuing and withdrawing behaviors, and address issues like avoidance of conflict, defensiveness, blaming, miscommunication, overgeneralizing, and negativity about the relationship. By focusing on the problem as the problem, couples can work towards resolution.
**Families**
I also provide family therapy for families experiencing conflict, challenging dynamics, and differences in parenting skills. Children may face self-esteem issues, and my goal is to enhance family relationships by identifying patterns of interaction. This process improves well-being and enjoyment between family members, restoring harmony and balance within the family.
